Online Appointment Bookings!

At Panacea our mission is to help make vets more successful - clinically and commercially.

When performing initial product research for Panacea we were confronted by a troubling statistic:  Over 40% of phone calls to vets (companion and large animal) go unanswered.

This is because many clinics cannot justify a full-time receptionist, meaning that the job of answering the phone and managing client appointments typically falls to already busy nurses.  As one busy nurse put it 'it's hard to answer the phone when you're assisting in a surgery'.

Almost no vets who we surveyed accepted appointment bookings online.  This is because doing so with legacy practice management systems is too expensive and too difficult.

So we set out to build an online appointment booking engine that would change all that.

Our engineers have toiled tirelessly to build an online booking engine that is:

  • Allows clients to create and manage their own bookings via the clinic's web site and Facebook page

  • Easy for clients to use, allowing them to make real bookings directly into the clinic schedule

  • Simple to set up and configure - you can add online booking functionality to your web site and Facebook page in less than 10 minutes!

  • Inexpensive.  Online appointment bookings are available in all versions of Panacea.  There's no more to pay for this amazing feature.

We couldn't be more proud of what they've come up with and we're positive that you, our vet customers will be as chuffed about it as we are.  We've create a whole new 'Step by Step' section for online appointment bookings in our Support Site, including an overview of how they work and how you manage bookings made online.

If you need any help setting up or using online bookings then please don't hesitate to contact us - we're always happy to help.

You can try online bookings for yourself by making an appointment booking into our test system via our web site or Facebook page.

Variables in Subject Line of Email Templates

Panacea now allows you to insert variables into the subject line of email communications templates.  Simply type an open curly bracket ('{') while typing in the subject line of the template for a list of available variables:

HTML Hyperlinks in Email Templates

Another tasty little improvement to email communications templates - you can now create HTML hyperlinks in email templates.  This allows your clients to click on a word (or a section of text) to be taken to to a web site of your choosing.

To use HTML hyperlinks, simply select the text that you want to add a hyperlink to:

And then click Insert Link from the toolbar:

Enter the URL for the hyperlink and choose whether you want the link to open in a new tab or not (this is the default behaviour for links opened from emails in most email clients) then click Update:

You can also use variables in the URL field - we've used the {APPOINTMENT_URL} variable above, which allows the client to directly access appointments booked online.
